The National Police Agencies of South Korea and Cambodia have agreed to work together on establishing a 24-hour hotline, cracking down on scam crimes, and conducting joint investigations.

According to the National Police Agency on October 20, Yoo Jae-sung, Acting Commissioner of the National Police Agency, and Chia Peou, Deputy Commissioner of the Cambodian National Police, held a bilateral meeting at the National Police Agency that day and shared the need for the practical operation of the previously agreed-upon "Korea-Cambodia Joint Response Task Force (TF)."
The police authorities of both countries particularly agreed to begin discussions this week on operating a 24-hour hotline, actively cracking down on scam crimes targeting Koreans, and conducting joint investigations.
The Cambodian side also decided to participate in the activities of the international cooperation body, which will be launched to respond to Southeast Asian scam crimes, at the International Police Chiefs Conference to be held in South Korea on October 21.
It has also been reported that, during the bilateral meeting, the South Korean side conveyed the opinion that, in the long term, it would be necessary to establish a Korean Desk (a police officer dedicated to handling cases involving Korean nationals).
