All Participation Fees Donated
A Festival of Sharing and Unity
Dongjak District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Ilha) will host the “Dongjak Youth Charity Marathon,” planned by local youth, on November 1 at the Hangang Nodeul Naru Park area. This event is a “donation-linked participation campaign” directly proposed by young people in the community, aiming to foster a sense of community and promote a culture of sharing.
The marathon will begin with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by a warm-up stretching session (Dongjak Song Dance) with comedian Kim Younghee, the marathon race, and a closing ceremony. The course starts at Nodeul Naru Park, passes through Daebang Station and Noryangjin Fish Market, and returns to the starting point. Both youth and local residents can participate in either the 5km (one lap) or 10km (two laps) courses.
All participation fees will be donated. At the closing ceremony, there will be a “donation presentation ceremony” with actor Jin Taehyun, and the funds will be used for local youth welfare projects through the Dongjak Welfare Foundation.
The participation fee is 5,000 won per person, and registration is limited to the first 300 participants on a first-come, first-served basis until October 30. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a finisher’s medal, and prizes such as running shoes and Phoenix Park Pyeongchang accommodation vouchers will be awarded by lottery. Applications can be submitted through the Dongjak District Office’s integrated reservation system. On the day of the event, the district will prioritize participant safety by deploying emergency vehicles and safety personnel, as well as operating a medical station.
Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak District, stated, “This charity marathon, initiated by the ideas of local youth, is a meaningful event that puts the values of sharing and unity into practice. I hope it will be a time to care for your health and share warm hearts with your neighbors.”
