The Gumi Office of Education in North Gyeongsang Province (Superintendent Min Byungdo) held a small group parent education program titled "Student Suicide Prevention (Mental Health Literacy) for Parents in the Second Half of the 2025 Academic Year: Enhancing Communication with Children and Restoring Parental Emotional Health" at the Gumi Wee Center training room over four days from October 14 to 17, 2025.

This program was designed to help parents restore family relationships based on smooth communication with their children, and to enhance parents' emotional stability and confidence.

From October 14 to 16, the three sessions were led by Lee Eunju, Director of the Healing Drama Art Center, under the theme "The Art of Love, Healing Relationships." The sessions used role-playing to recreate real-life situations, allowing parents to experience empathetic conversations and relationship restoration.

On October 17, Jin Sunhwa, CEO of Chamjoeun Aroma, delivered a special lecture on "Self-Care for Parents through Aromatherapy," providing parents with an opportunity to cultivate emotional relaxation and resilience.

The Gumi Wee Center has noted that, amid a recent increase in student suicides and self-harm crises, restoring family communication and bonds plays a crucial role in establishing an emotional safety net for students.

Accordingly, the program was organized to strengthen parents' capabilities to support their children's healthy development and to offer parents opportunities for self-care.

Shin Unsik, Head of the Educational Support Division, emphasized, "For students to respect their own value and grow up with a healthy mindset, attentive interest and empathy from schools, families, and community members are essential," adding, "The Gumi Office of Education will continue to strengthen systems that support respect for life and mental health so that students can grow up safely."
