"Offering 200 Million Won Salaries, Welcoming Samsung and SK Hynix Alumni"... The Company Openly Courting Korean Talent

Micron Launches Full-Scale Effort to Attract Korean HBM Talent
Comprehensive Offers Extended to Korean Engineers This Year

Micron Technology, the third-largest memory semiconductor company in the world, is making an all-out effort to recruit Korean engineers.

According to industry sources on October 19, Micron is currently conducting experienced hires of semiconductor engineers from Korean companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix to work at its fab (factory) in Taichung, Taiwan, through the global business networking platform LinkedIn.

The Taiwan plant is Micron's largest DRAM production base. HBM is also produced at this location.

The recruitment process typically involves local headhunters reviewing engineers' resumes and profiles posted on LinkedIn, then reaching out to propose positions. Most of the roles are related to HBM and packaging, and it is reported that some engineers have been offered executive-level positions.

The executive-level annual salary proposed by Micron is estimated to be up to around 200 million won, including bonuses and other compensation.

It is also known that Micron has made job offers not only to semiconductor engineers but also to employees of foreign semiconductor equipment companies and display industry firms with branches in Korea.

Previously, at the end of last year, Micron conducted in-person interviews for experienced Korean semiconductor engineers to work in Taichung, Taiwan, at a hotel in the Pangyo area of Gyeonggi Province. The offer included a 10-20% salary increase based on withholding tax, as well as support for housing and visa processing.

This move by Micron is seen as an effort to staff its expanding global fab sites and to secure HBM competitiveness by recruiting engineers from Korean companies, which have a strong advantage in DRAM.

Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra stated during last month's earnings announcement, "The HBM market will grow to 100 billion dollars by 2030," and added, "The growth of HBM is more pronounced than that of general DRAM, and this trend will continue next year as well."
