Governor Park waved to the athletes and encouraged them by saying, "The passion and spirit of the athletes will bring great inspiration and hope to the residents. I hope you will do your best safely and without injury."

Approximately 17,000 people attended the opening ceremony, including President Lee Jaemyung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwiyeong, members of the National Assembly, mayors and provincial governors, athletes from each city and province, and spectators.

This year, the South Gyeongsang delegation consists of 2,001 members, including 1,342 athletes and 659 officials, competing in 50 events at the National Sports Festival.

The athletes, who finished second overall at the 105th National Sports Festival held in South Gyeongsang Province last year, have been training hard with the goal of achieving a top ranking once again.

South Gyeongsang Province hosted the 105th National Sports Festival and the 44th National Para Sports Festival in 2024, as well as the 54th National Youth Sports Festival and the 19th National Para Student Sports Festival in 2025.

The province is also focusing on preparations to ensure the successful hosting of the 2026 National Sports for All Festival and the National Inclusive Sports for All Festival, following the previous events.

In particular, the National Inclusive Sports for All Festival, where people with and without disabilities participate together, will be held simultaneously with the National Sports for All Festival, with the aim of creating a venue for national unity.
