A Transportation Collaboration Model Elevating Local Tourism Quality
Enhancing the Completeness of a Citizen-Participation Festival
Kimcheon City is strengthening its partnership with tourist taxis to ensure the successful hosting of the region’s signature event, the '2025 Gimcheon Gimbap Festival'.
On the 16th, the city held a meeting with tourist taxi operators in the video conference room at City Hall, discussing operational plans to provide transportation convenience and customized services for visitors during the festival period.
The 'Gimcheon Gimbap Festival' will take place from October 25 to 26 at Jikji Culture Park and Samyeongdaesa Park.
The city expects a significant increase in tourist inflow during the festival and is focusing on improving the quality of tourism services by inspecting the tourist taxi operation system and strengthening promotional links.
Since 2022, the city has operated the tourist taxi system year-round, and currently, a total of eight taxis guide visitors to major attractions in Gimcheon.
During the meeting, practical discussions were held on tourist taxi operation plans, service quality management, and the operation of the tourism promotion center. Additionally, the city shared plans for the installation and operation of the 'Integrity Mirror'-a part of the city's integrity policy-and promotional strategies for the 'Tourist Taxi Review Event' using Naver Forms.
Furthermore, the city is running a 'Review Event' where passengers who leave reviews via Naver Forms receive souvenirs, encouraging greater participation and interest in tourist taxis.
Park Mijeong, Head of the Tourism Promotion Division, stated, "The Gimcheon Gimbap Festival has established itself as a leading local tourism festival, and tourist taxis serve not just as a means of transportation but as 'mobile tourism ambassadors' promoting Gimcheon. We will ensure that tourist taxis elevate the quality of Gimcheon tourism and become central to spreading a festival culture created together by citizens and visitors."
This year’s Gimcheon Gimbap Festival features a variety of programs that are expected to attract national attention, such as 'Local Gimbap', 'Unique 8 Provinces Gimbap', and a 'Cooking Competition', as well as themed content featuring Gimcheon’s character 'Godali' and various gimbap-related performances.
As a citizen participation festival where locals and tourists come together, it is expected to further enhance Gimcheon’s identity and city brand value.
Tourist taxis in Gimcheon are evolving from simple transportation to 'moving tourism ambassadors' that allow visitors to experience local culture and the city’s unique character.
The Gimcheon model, which combines transportation, tourism, and integrity-focused administration, is drawing attention as a new benchmarking case for local governments nationwide.
