Jindo County in South Jeolla Province has launched a large-scale initiative to improve public perception and establish a culture of friendliness, following recent negative sentiment sparked by reports of unkind service at some local restaurants.
The county announced on the 17th that it held a “Restaurant Friendly Service Training and Resolution Rally” on the 16th at the county office’s main conference hall, under the theme “Jindo County Restaurants, Reborn Through Friendliness.”
More than 300 owners of local hygiene-related businesses attended the event. The program included friendly service training, a reading of a resolution to improve food culture and promote kindness, and a street march campaign. Participants pledged to practice kindness and maintain high standards of hygiene, vowing to elevate the dignity and service quality of their establishments.
During the street campaign, business owners chanted slogans such as “No to Unkindness, Yes to Friendliness!”, “100% Sincerity in Both Taste and Service,” and “Jindo, a Place You’ll Want to Visit Again Thanks to Impressive Service,” helping to spread the atmosphere of friendly service.
A county official stated, “We hope this training and resolution rally will further improve service awareness among restaurant workers and serve as an opportunity to restore Jindo’s image as a friendly destination that tourists want to revisit.”
