[Today’s New Product] Lotte Mart & Supermarket Launches Large-Volume Value Sake ‘Sumo 1.8L’

Double the Volume Compared to the 900ml Version

On October 17, Lotte Mart & Supermarket announced that it has planned a large 1.8-liter version of the popular sake 'Sumo', which will be sold exclusively through offline channels for 17,900 won.

Sumo is an alcoholic beverage that has consistently enjoyed popularity among Korean consumers for its clean and smooth taste. As of October 15 this year, it ranked fifth in sales within Lotte Mart’s Japanese liquor category. The new product doubles the volume compared to the existing 900ml version and lowers the unit price per 100ml by about 10%, thereby enhancing its cost-effectiveness.


Lotte Mart & Supermarket has been steadily launching 'cost-effective liquor' products to respond to high inflation. 'Ganbare Otosan (1.8L)', which was launched in a large size in June last year, ranked third in sales within the Japanese liquor category during the same period. In addition, the ultra-cost-effective wine 'TASTY Simple' (two varieties), introduced last month at the striking price of 4,900 won per bottle, sold more than 10,000 bottles within just 10 days of its release.


Choi Jiyoung, Merchandise Planner (MD) of the Liquor Team at Lotte Mart & Supermarket, stated, "Even amid the economic downturn, we have launched large-sized sake to ease the burden of liquor purchases for our customers," adding, "We will continue to expand cost-effective liquor products like sake so that consumers can enjoy more reasonable liquor shopping."
