Visited Five Times This Year for Flood Recovery and Volunteer Activities
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon embarked on his 11th on-site tour focused on the livelihood economy in Gapyeong County on the 17th, where he attended the "58th Gapyeong County Residents' Day Commemoration Event" held at the Gapyeong Culture and Arts Center. There, he encouraged the residents and wished for a bright future for Gapyeong.

In his congratulatory remarks, Governor Kim shared that this was his fifth visit to Gapyeong, stating, "The first time, I came with a joyful heart, but the next three times, I visited with a heavy heart to inspect flood damage sites, support recovery efforts, and volunteer. Today, however, I have come with great hope." He emphasized, "I came here in person as governor to show my love and commitment to Gapyeong."
Since the opening ceremony of the Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival in May, Governor Kim has visited Gapyeong three times to support flood recovery efforts, including inspecting the sites affected by heavy rainfall in July, checking evacuation shelters for displaced residents, and volunteering for flood recovery. From July 23 to 31, Gyeonggi Province mobilized a total of 2,570 volunteers to flood-affected areas through the civil servant volunteer group and the volunteer center, making every effort to support recovery.
Governor Kim mentioned the difficulties faced by local farmers due to flood damage, saying, "I heard that the harvest was not good this year, but we are purchasing agricultural products from affected farms in Gapyeong and using them as souvenirs for Gyeonggi Province," demonstrating his commitment to mutual growth. He also said, "Gapyeong has seen many positive developments, such as being selected as a border area and for the local garden project," and added, "Just like today's clear weather, I believe a bright future awaits Gapyeong. Let's work together for the future of Gapyeong."
The Residents' Day event, held under the theme "Back to Gapyeong," was organized to reaffirm the community's commitment to regional revitalization and unity as it recovers from the heavy rainfall damage suffered this summer. The event was attended by over 600 people, including the Gapyeong County Governor, local members of the National Assembly, provincial and county councilors, and residents. Governor Kim presented awards to distinguished residents and celebrated the 58th Gapyeong County Residents' Day.

Meanwhile, following last year's "Handshake Talk" with Governor Kim, Gapyeong County received special adjustment grants totaling approximately 11.1 billion won for seven resident-requested projects, including the remodeling of the Gapyeong Culture and Arts Center. Additionally, nine out of twelve proposed initiatives, such as the appointment of an arboretum coordinator and the promotion of stay-type tourism, have been reflected in policy, yielding tangible results.
