A middle school student who went missing after falling into the water at Jungnangcheon in Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do, has been found dead.
According to the police and fire authorities on the 17th, a body was discovered around 9 a.m. that day in the stream near Dongmakgyo at Jungnangcheon in Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do.
After recovering the body, police confirmed through fingerprints, physical characteristics, and clothing that it was the missing first-year middle school student, referred to as "A."
The fingerprints of student A had previously been registered with authorities as part of a system to prevent child disappearances.
The police are investigating the circumstances, including why student A entered the water at that time.
Earlier, at around 5:35 p.m. on the 13th, two middle school students fell into the water at Jungnangcheon in Uijeongbu-dong, Uijeongbu-si. One was rescued, while the other was swept away and went missing.
The police and fire authorities have mobilized about 300 search personnel and equipment each day to conduct the search operation.
