There have been calls for the prompt approval of the preliminary feasibility study for the expansion of the Seodaejeon Junction to Hoedeok Junction section, a key commuter route for Daejeon citizens and a major transportation axis in the Chungcheong region, which is part of the Honam Expressway branch line.

Yonggap Park, Member of the National Assembly (Junggu, Daejeon, Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee), emphasized during the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee audit on the 16th, "The preliminary feasibility study for the expansion of the Honam Expressway branch line (Seodaejeon Junction to Hoedeok Junction) must be approved without delay," addressing the president of Korea Expressway Corporation.

In response, the president of Korea Expressway Corporation stated, "We fully share the sense of urgency and completely agree on the necessity of the project," adding, "Korea Expressway Corporation is making every effort to ensure the approval of the preliminary feasibility study."

The Seodaejeon Junction to Hoedeok Junction section, which is part of the Honam Expressway branch line (total length of 18.6 kilometers), is currently operated as a four-lane road (two lanes in each direction). Persistent congestion in this section continues to cause inconvenience for citizens.

The expansion project to six lanes is currently underway, with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Expressway Corporation jointly preparing a policy evaluation report, which was submitted to the Ministry of Economy and Finance in September. The project is scheduled for its final preliminary feasibility review at the end of this month.

Yonggap Park stressed, "Since this section is causing inconvenience for residents, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Expressway Corporation must make every possible effort to ensure that the preliminary feasibility study is reviewed and approved swiftly."
