On October 17, Gwangju Dong-gu District announced that it will host a special market, the '2nd RE:VERSE Goblin Market IN Chungjang-ro,' in the Chungjang-ro 4-ga area to revitalize the local commercial district.
The event, scheduled for October 18, follows the first edition held last month. It is organized and hosted by the Chungjang Merchants Association, with administrative support and publicity provided by Dong-gu District. A key feature of this Goblin Market is that it will take place during the '22nd Gwangju Memories of Chungjang Festival,' allowing more citizens and tourists to participate.
This event will feature a special auction in which Chungjang-ro merchants will participate directly. In addition to professional auctions for antiques, there will be on-site auctions for items such as gold, suits, and hanbok prepared by the merchants, offering a unique and entertaining experience.
A new nostalgic food zone will also be set up, where visitors can enjoy snacks that evoke memories, such as tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), cotton candy, and dalgona (sugar candy). The food area will be decorated to highlight the unique sensibility and retro atmosphere of Chungjang-ro.
In addition, a variety of nostalgic game events have been prepared, including a treasure hunt, roulette event, and ttakji-chigi (traditional Korean slap-match) tournament, all of which are easy for people of all ages to join. A newly created photo zone themed around a 'Wedding with the Goblin Bride' will offer visitors a special memory.
Im Taek, head of Dong-gu District, stated, "As the Goblin Market is held together with the Chungjang Festival, we expect more citizens and tourists to visit Chungjang-ro. We will actively support this festival, led by local merchants, so that it brings new vitality to the Chungjang-ro commercial district."
