All Grade 1 Officials Submit Resignations
Some Expected to Be Accepted
Shin Jin-chang, Director General of the Financial Policy Bureau, has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the Financial Services Commission.
On October 16, the Financial Services Commission announced that Shin Jin-chang, Director General of the Financial Policy Bureau, has been named as the new Secretary General.
Born in 1970, Shin graduated from Wooshin High School and earned a degree in Business Administration from Seoul National University. He entered public service after passing the 40th civil service examination.
He has held various positions, including Director of the Inclusive Finance Division at the Financial Services Commission, Counselor at the Embassy of Korea in the United Kingdom, Director of the SME Finance Division, Director of the Financial Policy Division, Head of the Financial Group Supervision Innovation Team, Director of the Restructuring Policy Division, Director General of the Financial Industry Bureau, and Director General of the Financial Policy Bureau.
Upon the launch of the new administration, Shin was dispatched to the Economic Planning Division 1 of the Presidential Committee on State Affairs Planning. He is credited with playing a key role in the real estate market stabilization and household debt countermeasures, serving as a core contributor to the June 27 real estate policy and the October 15 measures.
The Financial Services Commission is expected to implement a series of personnel changes, starting with the appointment of the new Secretary General. Currently, all four Grade 1 officials at the Commission have submitted their resignations, and some of these are expected to be accepted.
