Sunchang County Accepting Applications for 'Second Half University Student Living Expense Support Program'

Applications Accepted Until October 31
"Fostering Outstanding Talent"

The Okcheon Scholarship Foundation of Sunchang County, Jeollabuk-do (Chairman: Choi Youngil, Sunchang County Governor) is accepting applications for the ‘Second Half University Student Living Expense Support Program’ until October 31.


According to the county on October 16, this support program is a core project of the universal welfare policy under the 8th popularly elected Sunchang County administration. It aims to reduce the financial burden of university tuition and housing costs, ensure higher education opportunities for local talent, and foster outstanding individuals.

In particular, the program focuses on preventing the outflow of local talent and providing a foundation so that young people who grew up in Sunchang can fully develop their abilities in a stable educational environment.


Eligible applicants are university students from Sunchang County under the age of 40 who meet one of the following criteria: ▲Graduated from elementary, middle, and high schools within Sunchang; ▲Graduated from a middle school within Sunchang and a high school outside the county; ▲Currently enrolled in university after passing the high school equivalency exam. However, students enrolled in open universities, online universities, credit bank system programs, or those who have exceeded the standard academic years are excluded.


Support is available for up to seven semesters, from the second semester of the first year to the second semester of the fourth year. For universities with programs exceeding four years, support is still limited to a maximum of seven semesters. The amount of support varies from 1 million to 2 million won per semester.


Applicants or their parents must visit the administrative welfare center of their respective town or township in person to apply, and must submit the application form, certificate of enrollment, and other relevant documents at the time of application.


Governor Choi Youngil stated, “This support program is a system designed to alleviate the financial burden on parents and help students focus on their studies,” adding, “We will continue to create an educational environment where local talent can freely pursue their dreams.”
