Second Leg of the Juvenile Series
Diverse Citizen Participation Events Planned

Korea Racing Authority LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam (headed by Eom Youngseok) will host the 7th Gimhae Mayor’s Cup, the fifth race of the day, on October 19.

The Gimhae Mayor’s Cup serves as the second leg of the “Juvenile Series” for Korean-bred two-year-olds in the Busan-Gyeongnam region. On the same day in Seoul, the second leg for the capital region, the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation Chairman’s Cup, will take place. Both races will be held under the same conditions, with Korean-bred two-year-old colts and fillies competing for a total prize purse of 200 million won over a distance of 1,200 meters.

A total of eight horses will participate in this race. Notably, “Wild Park,” who won both the “Rookie Stakes @ Yeongnam” and the “Gangseo District Mayor’s Cup,” will face off against “Super Aero,” the runner-up in the “Rookie Stakes @ Yeongnam,” drawing significant attention from fans.

To commemorate the Gimhae Mayor’s Cup, LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam has prepared a variety of citizen participation events in collaboration with Gimhae City.

At 2:00 p.m., there will be a special performance by an indie band and a cheerleading show by a professional cheerleader team, providing an exciting spectacle for visitors.

Additionally, there will be hands-on programs for families, including a children’s hand puppet show, a children’s cheerleading performance, a “Guess the Winning Horse” cheering contest, a lucky draw, a “Malmma” photo event, and a children’s experience booth.

From 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Gimhae City will operate a “Gimhae Dwitgogi Free Tasting” booth at Derby Square, along with an exhibition of “Gimhae’s Top 10 Travel Destinations,” a “King Suro’s Throne” photo zone, and the “Gimhae Marble Game,” offering interactive content for visitors.

A LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam official stated, “The Gimhae Mayor’s Cup is an important stage to showcase the potential of two-year-old horses who will lead the future of Korean horse racing. It will be a festival that both racing fans and citizens can enjoy together.”
