A special season has arrived, blending the fresh flavors of the autumn sea with the pristine nature of Uljin.

This year, the Jukbyeon Port Seafood Festival will be held under the theme "Let's Go to Jukbyeon Port! Let's Eat Seafood!" It is a signature food festival where visitors can enjoy autumn seafood such as fresh yellowtail, squid, and gizzard shad all in one place.

The festival will feature popular events such as ▲barehanded fish catching ▲mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) performances ▲on-the-spot seafood auctions ▲seafood butchering shows, providing fun for visitors and offering free tasting opportunities to whet their appetites.

At night, a fish lantern (eodeung) exhibition will create a unique photo zone at Jukbyeon Port, while a parade of fishing boats and a fireworks display will mark a spectacular opening ceremony.

In particular, the opening ceremony will feature congratulatory performances by trot singers Lee Chanwon and Hwang Yunseong, adding to the excitement of the event. The festival is newly designed as a "stay-over festival," where visitors can enjoy the sea during the day and music and food at night, encouraging longer visits and overnight stays.

The autumn travel courses in Uljin, which can be enjoyed alongside the Jukbyeon Port Seafood Festival, are also attracting attention. The Geumgang Pine Forest Trail, the fall foliage trekking course at Bulyeongsa Valley, and the Wangpicheon Ecological Trail are all colored by autumn leaves, offering the deep charm of the forest with vibrant foliage.

In particular, the Wolsongjeong Barefoot Walking Trail, made of soft natural earth, is a popular course where visitors of all ages can fully experience nature as they walk. On cool autumn nights, fireflies light the path, creating a special atmosphere.

At Mangyangjeong Beach and Gusan Beach, more travelers are enjoying emotional camping and car-camping trips against the backdrop of the autumn sea. The Uljin section of the East-West Trail (60 km), currently in a pilot operation, is also emerging as a new hotspot for backpackers. This course consists of four sections, stretching from Wongokgyo in Jeongok-ri, Geumgangsong-myeon to Mangyangjeong Beach in Sanpo-ri, Geunnam-myeon.

Other attractions include the thrilling Hupo Deungisan Skywalk, which allows visitors to walk above the sea; a drama filming set and Heart Beach near Jukbyeon Port; the Uljin Marine Leisure Sports Center, where visitors can enjoy freediving and scuba diving; and traditional hot spring destinations such as Deokgu Hot Springs and Baegam Hot Springs, which help travelers relax. All these attractions allow visitors to enjoy the delights of Uljin tourism even during the festival period.

▲Uljin Is Now Closer Thanks to Enhanced Transportation and Tourism Convenience

With the opening of the Donghae Line, Uljin is now closer to the Seoul metropolitan area. Travel time has been reduced by one to two hours compared to before, and perceptions are quickly changing as Uljin becomes recognized as a desirable healing destination for day trips. Various transportation services are being provided to enhance convenience for families, couples, and solo travelers alike.

To further improve convenience, the county is offering free rural bus rides alongside tourist taxi services. Since the launch of the tourist taxi service in March, the number of users has continued to grow, making it a convenient means of transportation and a moving "tour guide" that also provides on-site information for visitors to the region.

In addition, from October 1 to November 30, a two-month "Autumn Uljin Travel Bus Support Project" is being piloted. For groups of 25 or more tourists visiting Uljin by public transportation such as train or bus, a bus is provided for travel between tourist sites, making trips more convenient and comfortable. Residents of Uljin are not eligible, but tourists can enjoy a six-hour Uljin tour by tourist bus for an affordable 5,000 won per person, making economic travel possible.

County Mayor Son Byeongbok said, "The Jukbyeon Port Seafood Festival is the representative festival of Uljin's sea and marks the start of autumn tourism in Uljin. I hope you will create unforgettable and special autumn memories in Uljin, a seasonal travel destination where you can experience pristine nature, delicious food, and warm hospitality."
