"We are looking for individuals who have contributed to the advancement of science and technology culture."
The Southeast Regional Science Museum Association, organized by the National Busan Science Museum, is now accepting nominations for the 4th Southeast Science Culture Awards from October 16 to November 13.
The Southeast Science Culture Awards were established in 2022 to recognize the achievements of staff at science museums and related institutions who have contributed to the development and dissemination of science and technology culture, and to foster pride in the promotion of local science culture. This year marks the fourth edition of the awards.
The awards are divided into three categories: organization, individual, and achievement. This year, the "achievement category" has been newly introduced to highlight outstanding cases in various science culture fields, including exhibitions, education, events, operations, research, communication, design, and policy.
Eligibility requirements are as follows: for organizations, institutions or groups with at least two years of achievements; for individuals, those with at least three years of contributions; and for the achievement category, individuals or teams who have demonstrated outstanding achievements within the past three years. Eligible applicants include not only institutions and staff affiliated with the association, but also science commentators and education instructors actively working at each institution.
Candidates will undergo a qualification review, after which the final winners will be selected through a fair evaluation by a panel of experts. The awardees will receive a plaque and a cash prize of 3 million won, presented in the name of the Chairman of the Southeast Regional Science Museum Association (Director of the National Busan Science Museum). The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the regular meeting of the Southeast Regional Science Museum Association in December.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the National Busan Science Museum website and sending it via email.
The Southeast Regional Science Museum Association, organized by the National Busan Science Museum in accordance with the "Act on the Establishment, Operation, and Promotion of Science Museums," consists of 32 science museums and related institutions in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions. The association promotes various collaborative projects to foster the local science culture ecosystem, including exhibition exchanges, educational cooperation, joint publicity, and the expansion of the science culture network.
