On October 15, the police launched a compulsory investigation after uncovering evidence of corruption, including bribery, involving Kang Hodong, Chairman of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NongHyup).
The Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on October 15 that it had conducted a search and seizure at the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation's office in Jung-gu, Seoul, securing relevant materials.
The police reportedly obtained indications that Chairman Kang exchanged money and valuables ahead of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation's chairman election held in January last year.
