Missing Person Report for Man in His 30s Filed with Gwangyang Police on the 14th
Additional Reports of Disappearances in September and June
Reports of people losing contact with their families and acquaintances after leaving for Cambodia are increasing in Jeonnam as well.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency on October 15, a report was filed with the Gwangyang Police Station on October 14 regarding Mr. A (in his 30s), who left for Cambodia in December last year and has not been reachable. It is known that Mr. A last contacted his biological father in June this year before all communication was lost.
Previously, in July this year, a missing person report was filed with the Gwangyang Police Station by the family of Mr. B (in his 40s), who left for Cambodia and lost contact. In June, the Yeosu Police Station also received a report that Mr. C (in his 30s), who had left for Thailand a month earlier, could not be reached. In particular, it was reported that after departing for Thailand, Mr. C sent a KakaoTalk message saying he would cross into Cambodia with an acquaintance for employment, after which all contact ceased.
Currently, there have been three cases identified in Jeonnam alone of people who went missing after leaving for Cambodia.
In Gwangju as well, there have been three confirmed cases, including a missing person report for Mr. D (in his 20s), who is believed to have left for Thailand and is now staying in Cambodia.
Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Autonomous Police Committee strongly urged residents to refrain from traveling and to exercise heightened caution, as kidnapping and missing person cases targeting Koreans in Cambodia are rapidly increasing and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a "special travel advisory."
