According to the county on October 15, the Green Village Without Burning Forest Fires is a nationwide participatory wildfire prevention campaign initiated by the Korea Forest Service in 2014 to proactively prevent wildfires caused by the illegal burning of agricultural waste and household garbage.

Each year, villages where residents voluntarily pledge to eradicate illegal burning and actively engage in wildfire prevention activities at the community level are selected as excellent villages through a review process.

Naengcheon Village and Jowol Village received high marks for their ongoing, community-driven wildfire prevention efforts, including all residents participating in the pledge to eradicate illegal burning and collectively collecting and shredding agricultural by-products.

In particular, the villages were recognized as exemplary cases for providing wildfire prevention education to senior residents and conducting their own patrol activities. The excellent green villages will install a certification plaque provided by the Korea Forest Service and receive a selection of items prepared by the county to further promote the campaign.

Imsil County Governor Sim Min stated, "Being selected as an excellent green village without burning forest fires is a valuable achievement made possible by the collective efforts of all village residents," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our support and promotional activities to further spread a culture of wildfire prevention."
