Hapcheon County Wins Grand Prize in Administrative Innovation at the 30th Korea Local Autonomy Management Awards

Highly Praised for Actively Promoting Smart Living Services

Hapcheon County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on October 15 that it received the Grand Prize in the Administrative Innovation category at the 30th Korea Local Government Management Awards, held at the Air Force Hotel in Seoul.

The Korea Local Government Management Awards is a performance evaluation and award system for local governments, hosted by the Korea Institute of Public Autonomy. Established in 1996, it aims to select local governments with outstanding achievements as exemplary cases for others to benchmark and to contribute to the development of local autonomy. It is regarded as the most prestigious award in South Korea among those in which the private sector evaluates and recognizes local governments.

The institutional awards for local governments are comprised of six categories: administrative innovation, culture and tourism, welfare and health, regional development, industrial economy (urban/rural), and climate and environment, as well as an overall grand prize.

Award-winning local governments are selected through a four-stage process: two rounds of expert evaluations, an interview assessment, a resident satisfaction survey, and a final eligibility review.

Meanwhile, Hapcheon County was highly evaluated for actively promoting smart lifestyle services that residents can truly experience, such as operating a smart village broadcasting system, establishing “Smart Senior Centers in Every Neighborhood,” and introducing an AI voicebot for the agricultural machinery rental bank.

County Governor Kim Yuncheol stated, “I am very pleased that we have received the Korea Local Government Management Award for three consecutive years. I would like to thank the residents for their unwavering support and the staff for their sincere and dedicated work. We will continue to do our utmost to renew Hapcheon and make our residents shine.”
