Lee Junseok, Representative of the Reform New Party, strongly refuted on October 14 the act of Assemblyman Hyukjin Choi holding up a photo that combined Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae and Toyotomi Hideyoshi during the National Assembly audit, stating, "The ones who resemble him are the Democratic Party and President Lee Jaemyung."

Lee recounted the previous day's audit on his social networking service (SNS), saying, "Assemblyman Choi held up the photo, claiming it was a 'strategic choice to turn the Supreme Court of Korea into the Supreme Court of Japan.'"

At the time, Democratic Party members did not intervene, but internal criticism arose. Park Soohyun, chief spokesperson of the Democratic Party, said on CBS Radio, "Assemblyman Hyukjin Choi's actions did not help elicit fundamental answers from the public."

Lee stated, "Toyotomi Hideyoshi was a former low-ranking samurai who was obsessed with endless upward mobility, and even after reaching the pinnacle of power, he continued to appoint only those close to him. He was a man who never knew satisfaction, claimed dominion over the world, and repeatedly engaged in invasions." He continued, "The ones who resemble him are the Democratic Party and President Lee Jaemyung. Their endless pursuit of power and attitude of distrust mirror Toyotomi's desire to rule the world."

Lee also emphasized, "The lesson to be learned from the Imjin War is not crude wordplay. It is to recognize the futility of those who sought dominion, which was broken by the sacrifice of countless Joseon people." He added, "The determination of the people to uphold the separation of powers is stronger than the Confucian loyalty that was forced to protect the monarch."
