The Uijeongbu Memorial Park is a project to transform the area around the current Memorial Tower Plaza in Jail-dong from a space mainly used for veterans' events into an open, multi-purpose cultural space where citizens can visit and spend time in their daily lives. Construction is scheduled to begin this year, with the goal of opening in April 2026.
Mayor Kim Donggeun stated, "We will create Uijeongbu Memorial Park as an open space that maintains a solemn atmosphere for remembrance, while also allowing citizens to visit and relax at any time." He added, "By linking it with the Jail-dong Ecovillage Development Project, we will develop it into a symbolic landmark of Uijeongbu City."
