Six Months of Development to Perfect the Nutty Flavor
Second Yak-Kong Soy Milk Bread Lineup to Launch Later This Year
Emart24 announced on October 14 that it will launch three types of "Yak-Kong Soy Milk Bread Series" in collaboration with Babsnu, a technology holding company of Seoul National University.
"Yak-Kong Soy Milk" is characterized by using 100% domestically grown Yak-Kong soybeans, ground whole with their skins, to preserve the nutritional components of Yak-Kong such as plant-based protein, dietary fiber, and polyphenols. It is a branded product first introduced by Babsnu in 2015.
The newly introduced products include: ▲ Yak-Kong Cream Bread (2,600 KRW), ▲ Caramel Yak-Kong Cream Roll (3,600 KRW), and ▲ Yak-Kong Cream Castella (3,500 KRW).
Emart24 explained that during the development of new bakery products, it decided to utilize Yak-Kong Soy Milk, which is already highly trusted for its taste and nutrition, believing it would not only enhance flavor but also differentiate the products from competing offerings in the industry.
Emart24 put the most effort into developing the cream, which is the core of these new products. Since Babsnu's Yak-Kong Soy Milk is already recognized for its taste and nutritional value, the company increased the Yak-Kong Soy Milk content to as much as 9.96% to fully capture its original flavor and nutritional benefits. This is significantly higher than the milk content typically found in regular milk cream bread, allowing consumers to enjoy the rich, nutty taste of soy milk.
Emart24 blended Babsnu's Yak-Kong Soy Milk directly into the cream to authentically replicate its original flavor. To perfect the cream that highlights the Yak-Kong Soy Milk taste, the company spent about six months on development and conducted multiple tastings. While the typical development period for bakery products is about two to three months, this product took more than twice as long to achieve a higher level of quality.
The Yak-Kong Cream Bread offers both improved taste and quality by increasing the soy milk content, while maintaining a reasonable price of 2,600 KRW compared to similar-weight products in the industry. The Yak-Kong Cream Castella was inspired by the popular cream castella menu found at well-known cafes, featuring a soft castella filled with Yak-Kong cream containing 6.4% Yak-Kong Soy Milk. The Caramel Yak-Kong Cream Roll adds caramel sauce to the rich Yak-Kong cream roll, delivering both the smoothness of the cream and a sweet flavor.
To celebrate the launch, Emart24 will offer a 500 KRW discount coupon to Kakao customers who purchase any of the three Yak-Kong Soy Milk Bread items from October 15 to 31. When using the 500 KRW discount coupon, customers will receive 500 Kakao Pay Points, and those who purchase all three Yak-Kong Soy Milk Bread items will receive an additional 1,000 Kakao Pay Points.
Starting with these three Yak-Kong Soy Milk Bread products, Emart24 plans to expand the Yak-Kong Soy Milk Bread Series by introducing a second lineup later this year. Lee Hoseop, Emart24's Bakery Team MD, stated, "We will continue to introduce products with differentiated ingredients and concepts so that customers can enjoy unique bakery experiences at convenience stores."
