Trump: "Considering Tomahawk Support"

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, announced on the 13th that he will visit the United States on the 17th (local time) to discuss support for Tomahawk missiles with U.S. President Donald Trump.

At a press conference that day, President Zelensky stated, "I have already shared with President Trump a specific plan regarding how many Tomahawk missiles are needed," adding, "We will discuss the details during the meeting on the 17th." President Trump, a day earlier on the 12th, pressured Russia by saying that the United States could provide long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine if Russia does not end the war in Ukraine.

Previously, Reuters reported that President Trump and President Zelensky had two phone calls over the past weekend, and that a Ukrainian delegation led by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko would travel to the United States in advance to coordinate the summit.

Trump and Zelensky last met at the United Nations General Assembly held in New York, United States, at the end of last month. At that time, President Zelensky reportedly requested support for Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers.

Russia strongly objected to the discussion of providing Tomahawk missiles capable of reaching Moscow. Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Kremlin, warned on the same day, "It is inevitable that American experts would have to be involved to handle such sophisticated missiles," and added, "If Tomahawks are transferred to Ukraine, it will lead to serious consequences."
