To Be Held at Hall D of the Isabu Dokdo Memorial Hall in Samcheok on the 15th
Samcheok City, recognized as South Korea's leading hydrogen city, announced on the 13th that it will hold the "Hydrogen Economy Development Strategy Forum" to explore strategies for establishing a hydrogen economy belt centered on the Donghae Line and to seek ways to advance Samcheok's tourism industry through the ripple effects of the hydrogen economy.
This forum, under the theme "Samcheok-Pohang Donghae Line: Becoming the Core Axis of the Hydrogen Economy Belt," will take place at 2 p.m. on the 15th at Hall D of the Isabu Dokdo Memorial Hall in Samcheok.
With the opening of the Donghae Line railway connecting Samcheok and Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province this year, Samcheok City aims to assess the potential for economic development in the hydrogen industry centered on the Donghae Line, given the greatly improved geographical accessibility along the East Coast, and to explore future directions for growth.
At the forum, Professor Moon Il of Yonsei University's Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering will deliver a keynote presentation titled "Hydrogen Economy, Rise Again." Professor Moon is expected to provide an extensive overview of the importance of the hydrogen industry, the crisis and response strategies for South Korea's hydrogen economy, the new administration's energy policy direction, and global trends in the hydrogen sector.
Next, Professor Shin Hakseung of Hanyang University's Department of Tourism will present strategies for developing Samcheok's tourism industry following the opening of the Donghae Line. Experts from various fields will also participate in an open discussion on measures to vitalize the hydrogen economy.
Through this Hydrogen Economy Development Strategy Forum, Samcheok City expects that the achievements of its hydrogen industry initiatives to date will become core assets in the process of establishing a hydrogen economy belt centered on the Donghae Line, and that the activation of the hydrogen economy will generate ripple effects across various local industries, including tourism.
