"Promoting Rural Experience Tourism"
The Jeongeup Agricultural Technology Center in North Jeolla Province is recruiting participants for the "Nongtturail Tour," a train travel package that combines the Gujeolcho Flower Festival with rural experiences, to mark the autumn travel season. Applications are open until the 19th.
According to the city on the 13th, this tour features a well-organized itinerary that includes hands-on activities in a beautiful private garden, visits to fields of blooming Gujeolcho flowers, and a stop at Ssanghwa Tea Street, a local specialty area.
Applications can be submitted through the official Korail website. The "Nongtturail Tour" begins with a personalized garden terrarium experience at "Wildflower Garden," a rural experience farm that was selected as one of the "Top 30 Beautiful Private Gardens" by the Korea Forest Service.
The itinerary continues with a visit to the Gujeolcho Garden, where participants can enjoy the beauty of autumn, followed by a tour of Ssanghwa Tea Street, one of Jeongeup's nine scenic spots, offering a taste of the region's unique flavors and culture.
"Nongtturail" is a product jointly developed by the Rural Development Administration, Korea Railroad Corporation, and local governments to promote rural experiential tourism. The name combines words associated with rural areas and railroads-such as rice paddy ridges (non-dureong), communal labor (dure), and rail-to symbolize the connection between rural communities and the railway.
Kim Wonsim, head of the Rural Support Division, stated, "Since Jeongeup is a city that is easily accessible by rail, we will continue to develop attractive travel programs that encompass both rural experiences and tourist attractions, so that more visitors are encouraged to come."
