“Easing Child-Rearing Burden to Overcome Low Birth Rate”… Goryeong County to Support College Tuition for Multi-Child Families

Applications Open from October 15
Up to Eight Semesters and 1.5 Million Won Supported

Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province is launching the “2025 Second Semester College Student Tuition Support Program” for families with three or more children, aiming to alleviate the financial burden on multi-child households and help address the low birth rate crisis.

The program is open to children from families raising three or more children, including both the first and second child. Students under the age of 34 who are currently enrolled at a domestic university and whose parents have maintained resident registration in Goryeong County for at least the past two years as of the application date are eligible to apply.

The county plans to provide up to 1.5 million won per semester for up to eight semesters. Students who receive other scholarships will only be supported for the difference within the tuition amount. However, students who re-enroll in an equivalent-level university after graduation, graduate students, or those who have taken a leave of absence, withdrawn, or been expelled are excluded from the program.

Applications will be accepted in person at the relevant township or town office from October 15 to November 14. After receiving applications, Goryeong County will verify eligibility and check for duplicate scholarship benefits through the Korea Student Aid Foundation. The county plans to notify the guardians (parents) of the recipients and provide the support in December.

County Governor Lee Namcheol stated, “The cost of education is one of the greatest challenges for multi-child families. We hope this support will help ease the burden of child-rearing and contribute to creating an environment where young people can make positive choices about marriage and childbirth.”
