A fire broke out in the basement of a building in Daerim 1-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and firefighters are currently working to extinguish it.
According to the Yeongdeungpo Fire Station in Seoul, they were dispatched at around 5:41 a.m. on October 13 after receiving a report from a passerby about smoke coming from the basement of a building in Daerim 1-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu.
Fire authorities confirmed that the fire started on the first basement floor of the building.
The fire department has deployed 32 fire trucks and 101 personnel to conduct the initial firefighting operations.
No casualties have been reported so far.
The Yeongdeungpo District Office in Seoul stated that a large amount of smoke is being generated due to the fire and that the area is congested because of the firefighting efforts, urging people to take alternate routes.
