The 13th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo will be held in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.
On October 13, Gyeonggi Province announced that from October 16 to 19, a variety of garden exhibitions, conferences, garden industry and hands-on fairs, and cultural performances will take place at the Pyeongtaek Agricultural Ecology Center under the theme "The Garden of Pyeongtaek: Encountering Gardens in Everyday Life."
A total of 68 gardens across 17 categories, including artist gardens, corporate and institutional gardens, lifestyle gardens, citizen gardens, and children's gardens, will be created. Special themed gardens will also be featured, such as the "Water Garden," which reflects the identity of Pyeongtaek, and a garden dedicated to Oh Hoeng-muk, a governor of Pyeongtaek during the Joseon Dynasty. Visitors can enjoy a variety of works that bring gardens into daily life and experience the charm of garden culture.
During the expo, a Garden Culture Conference will be held to promote the spread of garden culture. This year's conference will share diverse discussions on gardens under the topics of ▲ The Value and Future of Public Gardens ▲ Challenges and Prospects for Garden Cities ▲ Sharing Green Conversations Together.
There will also be plenty of hands-on programs for families. Garden education and experience programs that can be immediately applied in daily life, such as home gardening tips, making natural compost, and creating your own fragrant garden, have been prepared. Special programs will also be held featuring Yang Jieun, a singer and Pyeongtaek's honorary ambassador (garden tour), and Brian (flower class).
The Garden Industry Fair, where companies related to the garden industry will exhibit and sell their products, will be held alongside the Pyeongtaek Food Market and food trucks, where visitors can enjoy the flavors of Pyeongtaek in one place. Garden performances featuring artists will also be presented, allowing people of all ages to experience lifestyle garden culture and art.
In particular, a docent program will be operated where garden interpreters will provide guided tours of the exhibited gardens, helping visitors gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the gardens.
Lee Jeongsoo, Director of the Garden Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Gardens are a valuable cultural asset that not only provide rest and healing to residents but also revitalize the local community. I hope you will fully experience the joy and possibilities of gardens at this expo, which has been prepared for over two years."
