The Gyeonggi Provincial Government and Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) are continuously recruiting preliminary tenants for purchased rental housing to support the stable social settlement of "youth preparing for independence."
Eligibility for tenancy is limited to those without a home who are either scheduled to leave a child welfare facility (including foster care) or have left such a facility within the past five years, as well as those who are scheduled to leave a youth welfare facility after using it for at least two years or have left within the past five years, provided that the Minister of Gender Equality and Family has recognized and notified the need for housing support.
GH purchases these homes and rents them out at prices lower than market value. As with other youth-purchased rental housing, they are offered at approximately 30% of the market rate.
Additionally, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government is implementing the "Housing Cost Support Program for Youth Preparing for Independence," which fully covers the standard rental deposit for those moving into GH public rental housing. This initiative helps youth preparing for independence to settle into society stably without the burden of initial housing costs.
Furthermore, in cooperation with the Gyeonggi Housing Welfare Center and the Gyeonggi Independence Support Agency, the province is continuously providing "first home preparation housing welfare education" to youth preparing for independence.
Kim Tae-su, Director of Housing Policy at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "Stable housing is the key foundation for independence and social settlement for youth preparing for independence," adding, "Gyeonggi Province will continue to expand tailored support, including housing cost assistance and the supply of rental housing, to actively help young people establish a stable foundation for their lives."
