Four Initiatives Including Fostering Traditional Markets
Applications Accepted Until the 7th of Next Month
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 12th that it is recruiting participants for the "2026 Traditional Market and Shopping District Revitalization Support Project."
The Traditional Market and Shopping District Revitalization Support Project is recruiting for a total of four initiatives: fostering traditional markets (culture and tourism-oriented markets), market management support (formerly the market management package), local product exhibitions, and host locations for the National Excellent Market Expo. The application period runs from the 13th to the 7th of next month.
Among these, the culture and tourism-oriented market initiative has been improved to allow applicants to classify themselves into one of four types-cultural hub, tourism-linked, local community-based, or specialty product-linked-through self-assessment at the application stage, and to establish tailored strategies accordingly. In addition, the requirement for Onnuri Gift Certificate affiliation rates has been relaxed to ensure that outstanding markets are not excluded from selection.
Unlike last year, market management support has been reorganized into four areas: capacity building (management consulting and merchant training), personnel support (market managers and delivery managers), and others, with a focus on establishing a foundation for the sustainable growth of traditional markets and shopping districts. Approximately 362 markets and shopping districts will be supported annually.
