Gyeonggi Office of Education to Hold "Nutrition and Dietary Education" at Nine Elementary and Middle Schools in the Province Until End of This Month

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will operate lesson-sharing programs at nine "nutrition and dietary education-centered schools" in the province until the end of this month.

This lesson-sharing initiative was established to promote nutrition and dietary education in accordance with the Ministry of Education's "2022 Revised Curriculum."

For elementary schools, the provincial office is facilitating activities such as exploring dietary habits with an ecological environment theme, hands-on experiences with traditional Korean sauces and making songpyeon, and exercises to correctly understand food labeling, all through the lesson-sharing program.

For middle schools, the lesson-sharing program focuses on training sessions for parents, covering topics such as hygiene management, food ingredient safety, guidance on meal planning, and publicizing student meal campaign activities.

The provincial office expects that through this lesson-sharing program, students will be able to practice healthy eating habits and develop character traits such as respect, consideration, and cooperation in their daily lives, while parents will have greater trust and empathy regarding the operation of school meals.

Meanwhile, "nutrition and dietary education-centered schools" are schools that take the lead in nutrition and dietary education in their communities by integrating these topics into the school curriculum to foster students' ability to manage their own dietary habits. Since its launch in 2021, 55 schools in the province have been designated and are currently operating as of this year.
