Pyeongchang County in Gangwon Province announced on October 11 that it will conduct the '2025 Population and Housing Census' from October 22 to November 18, targeting all domestic and foreign residents and households residing in the county.
The Population and Housing Census is a national basic statistical survey conducted every five years. It uses administrative data to carry out a complete enumeration to identify the size and characteristics of all people and housing in Korea, and also conducts a 20% sample survey to collect practical data necessary for policy making.
In Pyeongchang County, the sample survey will cover 20% of the total area, targeting 5,682 households. The survey includes a total of 55 items such as nationality, religion, education, reasons for single-person households, bicycle ownership, and career interruptions.
To improve survey efficiency and convenience for residents, the county will prioritize non-face-to-face survey methods such as online, mobile, and telephone surveys from October 22 to 31. For households that do not participate in the non-face-to-face survey, interviewers will visit them in person to conduct interviews from November 1 to 18.
To ensure the smooth execution of the survey, the county will provide training for 36 interviewers on September 22 and October 14. Interviewers will be thoroughly instructed on safety management guidelines and survey methods to ensure a safe and reliable survey process.
Pyeongchang County Governor Sim Jaeguk stated, "The Population and Housing Census is a very important survey that provides the basic data for establishing the county's long-term development plans and policies. Especially this year, participation in non-face-to-face surveys is even more crucial, so I ask all residents to actively take part in the online, mobile, and telephone surveys."
