There have been reports that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering a plan to construct a building in Washington DC similar to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France.
The Washington Post reported on the 10th (local time) that the White House is reviewing a proposal to build a triumphal arch in Washington DC.
The proposed location for the arch is "Memorial Circle," a roundabout situated between the Lincoln Memorial, a major tourist attraction in downtown Washington DC, and Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Currently, the large space inside the circular roadway at this site remains vacant.

The idea for constructing a triumphal arch was first proposed last year by architectural critic Catesby Leigh. Earlier this year, he published an article stating, "Washington DC is the only major Western capital without a triumphal arch."
Subsequently, Justin Shubow, who serves as an architectural advisor to the Trump administration, presented the arch idea to the White House, and President Trump reportedly responded positively. In a recently released photograph of President Trump's office, a model of the triumphal arch can be seen on his desk, further increasing the likelihood of the project moving forward.
In relation to this, Harrison Design, a firm headquartered in Washington DC, released design images of the arch on social media last month. Initially, the White House had planned to temporarily install the arch on federally owned land next year to commemorate the 250th anniversary of independence. However, it is now reported that the plan has shifted toward constructing it as a permanent monument.
