Wild Boar Appears in Haman, South Gyeongsang During Chuseok Holiday

An incident occurred in a village in Haman, South Gyeongsang Province, during the Chuseok holiday, where a resident was attacked. The wild boar was subdued by an electricity meter reader using a helmet.


According to Yonhap News Agency and the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters on October 10, at approximately 8:43 a.m. on October 9, the last day of the Chuseok holiday, a wild boar appeared in Ip-gok-ri, Sanin-myeon, Haman County, and attacked a woman in her 30s, referred to as Ms. A. Ms. A sustained injuries to her head and left knee, was transported to a hospital for treatment, and is reportedly not in life-threatening condition.

The wild boar, estimated to weigh around 30 to 40 kilograms, was subdued by Mr. B, an electricity meter reader in his 50s. Mr. B, who was visiting the village on his motorcycle, struck the wild boar with his motorcycle helmet after witnessing it attack Ms. A, successfully subduing the animal.


Fire authorities and police, who responded to the report, stated that the wild boar was already dead when they arrived at the scene.
