A nursing home in northern China has sparked public outrage after releasing a video showing a staff member wearing a short skirt and performing a provocative dance in front of elderly residents. The act was intended to encourage the elderly to take their medication.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on October 9, a shocking video was uploaded on September 24 to the official social media account of a nursing home in Anyang, Henan Province.

The video featured a woman in a short miniskirt dancing in front of an elderly man seated in a chair, accompanied by a caption stating, "Our director will do anything to ensure the elderly take their medication." The woman is reportedly a staff member of the nursing home.
Subsequently, another staff member dressed in a blue uniform approached the elderly man and administered his medication. The video included a message, "We are doing our best to encourage the elderly to take their medication."
After some viewers criticized the video as inappropriate, the nursing home explained that the controversial dance video was intended to break stereotypes about Chinese nursing homes.
According to the nursing home's online profile, it promotes itself as being "dedicated to bringing happiness to the elderly."

The post immediately sparked heated debate online. One user commented, "Has dance now entered the elderly care industry?" The account responded directly, "Everything can be related to dance."
As the controversy grew, a representative from the nursing home stated, "We wanted to show that this is not a lifeless place. Nursing homes can be vibrant, and the elderly can be vibrant too."
They added that while the staff member in the video occasionally appears in promotional clips, she is not a professional dancer, and the nursing home typically offers content such as card games or singing.
Afterward, the nursing home ended up deleting over 100 related videos. The Elderly Services Division of the Anyang Civil Affairs Bureau announced that they are currently investigating the details of the incident and will release the results of their investigation.
