Department Stores Launch Fall and Winter Apparel Promotions
Large Supermarkets Offer Discounts on Seasonal Foods and Fresh Produce
The retail industry is launching aggressive discount campaigns to sustain the revived consumer sentiment that emerged from increased demand for Chuseok holiday gift sets and grocery shopping during this year's longest holiday period. Promotions are being held across a wide range of items, from clothing for the fall and winter seasons to home appliances and food products.

According to the retail industry on October 11, Lotte Department Store is hosting a "Men's Week" event at all its locations until October 12, with over 60 men's fashion brands participating. Major brands such as Galaxy, Daks, Series, Songzio, and Barbour are offering discounts of up to 50% on key products. In addition, in connection with the Lotte Department Store Wedding Fair, which runs until October 19, special discounts are being offered on made-to-measure (MTM) suits. For Lotte Wedding Members customers, Galaxy is providing a 10% discount on its tailored suit service, while Cambridge Members is offering an instant discount of 100,000 won for purchases over 1 million won. AND Z and Sieg are offering a 40% discount to customers purchasing wedding suits.
Hyundai Department Store is holding fall and winter clothing discount events at its Pangyo, Mokdong, and Jungdong branches, taking into account the chillier mornings and evenings. At the event hall on the first basement floor of the Pangyo branch, a pop-up store for the premium cashmere and wool brand Erhes will be open until October 23, offering popular products at discounts of up to 60%. On the third floor of the Pangyo branch, a pop-up store for the premium fur brand Marielen will be open until October 19, with fur outerwear offered at discounts of up to 70%.
Additionally, at the main building of the Mokdong branch, the event hall on the first basement floor will host the "BCBG Family Sale" until October 12, offering flagship products at discounts of up to 80%. At the Mia branch, the event hall on the first basement floor will hold the "The North Face Family Sale" during the same period, with major outdoor products available at discounts of up to 50%. At the Jungdong branch, the "Tommy Hilfiger Men" store will offer discounts of up to 40% on popular items until October 12. During the same period, the "Kolon Sports" store on the sixth floor will provide tiered discounts based on purchase amounts and hold various gift events.
Large supermarkets have also launched food discount events to help stabilize grocery prices after the holiday. Emart is selling a "Flatfish and Salmon Sashimi Platter" (approximately 360g per pack, suitable for 2-3 people) for 29,980 won until October 15. In addition, customers who accumulate Shinsegae Points can receive a 20% discount on all imported grapes, imported chilled pork belly and neck, Korean beef steak packs, and domestic fresh shrimp. Until October 29, items such as minced garlic, cleaned squid, and new-season stir-fried anchovies will be featured as October's "Shock Price" products.
In electronics stores, robot vacuum cleaners and food waste disposers are being sold at special prices, and up to 300,000 won in discounts are available on promotional products from Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics when paid for with event cards. For large home appliances from these manufacturers, customers can also receive up to 800,000 won in Shinsegae gift certificates, depending on the purchase amount.
Lotte Mart and Lotte Super are also running discount events on seasonal foods and fresh and processed food products until October 15. For example, "Korean Beef Sirloin Grade 1" (100g, chilled) is being offered at 10,980 won, and "Pork Belly/Neck" (each 100g, chilled, imported pork) is available to L.Point members at a 40% discount for 1,434 won until October 12. At Lotte Super, in-season "Blue Crab" (100g, chilled, domestic) is being sold for 1,380 won, and "Jeju Hairtail" (3 fish, chilled, domestic) is being offered for 9,900 won.
In addition, Homeplus is holding the second week of its "Homeplus MEGA Golden Week" event targeting the post-Chuseok period until October 15. As major discounted items, all Australian Clean Beef products (subject to early sell-out and varying by product weight) are available at up to 50% off when purchased with one of seven major credit cards, and "Australian Clean Beef Chuck Flap Tail" (100g, subject to early sell-out, limited to 13 tons across all stores) is offered at a special My Homeplus member price of 3,990 won, a 50% discount. In preparation for the upcoming kimchi-making season, reservations for salted cabbage will be accepted in two rounds until November 19.
