This workshop was organized as a hands-on field education program, held a total of 12 times at 9 healing farms in Yangpyeong County, targeting 308 graduates of the 2025 Horticultural Therapy Class.
The training systematically addressed the healing value and practical implementation strategies of urban agriculture through a variety of topics, including horticulture, microorganisms, natural circulation, insects, natural dyeing, healing foods and traditional culture, and forest healing case studies. The customized field experience program, which linked urban agriculture with healing farms, received high satisfaction from participants.
One graduate who participated in the training shared, "I didn't know there were healing farms in Yangpyeong that could offer such diverse programs," adding, "Through the field experience, I was able to learn many things that I could not have gained from books or lectures."
This field-based training was highly significant in that it provided participants with practical opportunities to directly experience real-life applications of urban and healing agriculture, thereby offering substantial support for their future activities in related fields.
Jeon Jinseon, Governor of Yangpyeong County, stated, "This workshop has demonstrated that urban agriculture can go beyond simple gardening activities to contribute to psychological and social healing," and added, "We plan to actively promote the training of professional personnel through horticultural welfare certification and strengthen connections with community welfare in the future."
Meanwhile, based on the achievements of this workshop, Yangpyeong County plans to continuously pursue follow-up projects, such as expanding regionally tailored healing agriculture programs, supporting employment and entrepreneurship based on urban agriculture, and reinforcing networks for urban-rural integration and healing relationships.
