A Total Project Budget of 31.1 Billion Won Secured Through 2028 Starting Next Year
Five Projects to Receive 138.3 Billion Won in Funding by 2028
Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jinseon) announced on October 10 that the Ministry of Environment had confirmed the selection of the county’s "Aged Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Project" as a new recipient of national funding in September.
With the confirmation of this additional project, a total of five sewer pipeline maintenance projects in Yangpyeong County will receive national funding until 2028. These include: the Yangpyeong County Aged Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Project, the Yangseo-myeon Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Project, the Stage 3 Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Project for Yangpyeong County’s service area, the Yanggeuncheon Aged Pipeline Maintenance and Unaccounted-for Water Reduction Project, and the Gangha (Gangsang) Aged Pipeline Maintenance and Unaccounted-for Water Reduction Project. The total investment for these projects, including both national (water system fund) and local government funding, is expected to reach 138.3 billion won.
Starting in January 2026, the county will begin relocating and upgrading approximately 6.5 kilometers of sewage pipelines within the "Walkable Yanggeuncheon" section, a key project for the county. Simultaneously, the relocation of aged sewage pipelines in the Gangsang and Gangha sections will also be carried out.
In addition, the national funding for next year has been set at approximately 19.8 billion won for the already approved "Stage 3 Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Project for Yangpyeong County’s service area" and the "Yangseo-myeon Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Project." Full-scale implementation of these projects is expected to begin in January 2026.
An official from the Yangpyeong County Environmental Projects Office stated, "With these five nationally funded projects, sewage pipeline construction will take place across Yangpyeong for the next three years. Although some inconvenience to traffic is expected during construction, we anticipate significant positive effects such as the creation of a cleaner water environment and revitalization of the local economy." The official added, "We ask for the understanding and cooperation of county residents. Considering the county’s financial situation and the outdated state of our sewage infrastructure, this project is truly welcome news."
Yangpyeong County Governor Jeon Jinseon said, "Securing this national funding is the result of the county’s proactive efforts. By maximizing the use of local manpower, materials, and equipment, we hope to inject vitality into the stagnant local economy and further enhance the value of Yangpyeong through clean water."
