Culture Day:
A Cultural and Arts Education Program
with Expert Commentary
The Yangsan Lifelong Learning Center in Gyeongnam operates the cultural and arts education program "Short Film Cine Salon" on the last Wednesday of every month, designated as "Culture Day," featuring short film screenings accompanied by expert commentary.
The Short Film Cine Salon, which brings together culture, arts, and education, combines short film screenings with expert explanations to help citizens gain a deeper understanding of films and enjoy culture and the arts in their daily lives.
Any Yangsan citizen can participate, and the program is held in the main auditorium on the second floor of the Lifelong Learning Center, accommodating up to 140 participants.
The October screenings feature three short films carefully selected by the Busan International Short Film Festival Association: "My Mother’s Story" (2023 Best Picture Award, Animation, 15 minutes) directed by Kim Soyoung and Jang Minhee; "Unfree Judo" (2024 Operation Kiddo Award Winner, Documentary, 13 minutes) directed by Kim Yunyeong; and "June" (2018 Korean Competition Audience Award, Fiction, 25 minutes) directed by Lee Byungyun. These award-winning films have been curated to allow audiences to experience a wide range of emotions and messages across different genres.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis from 10:00 a.m. on October 15 to 9:00 p.m. on October 19, and will close automatically once the capacity of 140 participants is reached.
An official from Yangsan City stated, "We hope that through the Short Film Cine Salon, citizens will experience diverse cultural and social perspectives through the medium of short films," adding, "We believe this event will provide an opportunity for participants to put the inspiration and messages they receive into practice in their daily lives."
