Twelve Labs, a company developing ultra-large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) for video understanding, announced on October 10 that it has secured strategic investment from First Man Studio, the production company behind Netflix's "Squid Game."

Hwang Donghyuk, CEO of First Man Studio, stated, "Storytelling is becoming more global and evolving rapidly. Twelve Labs' video understanding technology simultaneously analyzes visuals, audio, and context, enabling it to locate specific scenes within hundreds of hours of footage in just seconds. Unlike generative AI that creates new videos, it focuses on maximizing the value of content already existing in video archives. By precisely indexing and analyzing video metadata at the scene level, it helps editors and directors work quickly while maintaining full creative control.
