From October 24 to 26 on Jamsi Island, Ganghwa Island
The Gyeongin Branch of the Korea Tourism Organization announced on October 10 that it will launch the "Seaside Book Picnic," a stay-type themed travel package on Ganghwa Island, in collaboration with the cooperative Cheongpung.
The Seaside Book Picnic is a stay-type travel package designed to allow visitors to fully experience the charms of Ganghwa Island. Local artists, bookstores, and shops, as well as other community members, participate throughout the program, facilitating exchanges with travelers. Cheongpung, the cooperative that co-planned this travel package, was recognized in 2024 in the "Korea Tourism Star Regional Growth Promotion Content" category for its innovative approach to showcasing Ganghwa Island's resources.
The Seaside Picnic will be held over a three-day, two-night schedule from October 24 to 26. Participants will stay on Ganghwa Island and enjoy activities such as book talks, seaside yoga, and concerts at historical fortresses, as well as a variety of programs linked to marine resources. The program emphasizes community interaction with local residents, actively reflecting recent travel trends that prioritize extended stays, healing, and meaningful connections.
Detailed information about the travel package can be found on the "Ganghwa Universe" website.
Gwak Daeyoung, head of the Gyeongin Branch of the Korea Tourism Organization, stated, "The convergence of Ganghwa Island's marine tourism resources, the diversification of travel trends, and engagement with the local community are the core elements of this project. We will continue to focus on developing content and products that promote the expansion of relational populations beyond just resident populations, and strive to address the issue of regional depopulation."
