Hyundai Motor Company announced on October 10 that its autonomous "Xcient Hydrogen Electric Truck" has been selected as one of Time magazine's "Best Inventions of 2025."
The Xcient Hydrogen Electric Truck combines the advantages of hydrogen vehicles-fast refueling and long driving range-with autonomous driving capabilities to enhance transportation efficiency. In addition to Hyundai Motor Company's world-first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell technology, the truck is equipped with PlusAI's Level 4 autonomous driving software, "SuperDrive." PlusAI is a Silicon Valley-based company in the United States that develops autonomous driving software for commercial vehicles using artificial intelligence (AI).
Park Cheolyeon, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Hydrogen Business at Hyundai Motor Company, stated, "This selection is proof of the power of innovation and collaboration," adding, "Hyundai Motor Company aims to contribute to building a sustainable and safe freight transportation ecosystem through hydrogen commercial vehicles."
