Football Association President’s Press Conference Video Cleverly Manipulated by AI
Online Gambling Is Illegal in Thailand
"Beware of Online Scams"
Thai society was thrown into turmoil after a video surfaced online showing the president of the Football Association of Thailand advertising an online gambling site. However, it was later revealed that the video was a fake, manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI).
On October 7 (local time), Vietnamese media outlet VN Express reported that Mrs. Pang (59, real name Nualphan Lamsam), president of the Football Association of Thailand, recently warned through her personal Facebook account, “Do not be deceived by invitations to join online gambling websites.”

Mrs. Pang explained that her press conference video had been cleverly manipulated to appear as if she was encouraging investment in illegal online businesses. The video appears to have been created using AI and was distributed across multiple social networking services (SNS), including Facebook, reaching viewers throughout Thailand.
Mrs. Pang emphasized that she does not support any gambling platform. She added, “All Thai citizens and football fans must be vigilant against online fraud,” and stated, “I have already reported the matter to Bangkok police through my lawyer, and I will continue to pursue this case until it is resolved.”
Since 1935, Thailand has enforced strict regulations against illegal gambling through its gambling laws. According to media reports, operating online gambling sites in Thailand is illegal under current law, and both operators and users participating in gambling are subject to punishment.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Pang is the fifth-generation descendant of the Lamsam family, one of Thailand’s largest conglomerate families. According to financial magazine Forbes, she is a billionaire with a net worth of $890 million (about 1.268 trillion won). She majored in marketing at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, then studied abroad at Boston University in the United States, where she earned a master’s degree in business administration. In 2024, Mrs. Pang became the first female president of the Football Association of Thailand. From August 2021 to January 2024, she also served as the manager of the Thai national football team.
VN Express reported, “During her tenure as manager of the Thai national football team, Mrs. Pang invested $1.7 million (about 2.4 billion won) in team rewards, contributing to Thailand’s victories in the Asian Football Federation (AFF) titles in 2021 and 2022.”
