Gwangju City announced on October 8 that it will conduct its fall rabies vaccination campaign for pets from October 15 to 31 to protect the health of both companion animals and citizens.

The vaccination is intended for dogs and cats residing in Gwangju. Vaccination may be restricted for animals that are pregnant or experiencing health issues. Citizens wishing to have their pets vaccinated should bring their animal registration certificate or device (external tag or identification tag) and visit a designated animal hospital.

The usual cost for rabies vaccination is around 20,000 won, but during this period, citizens only need to pay 5,000 won. The city has secured enough vaccine doses for 3,820 animals and distributed them to 87 designated animal hospitals. Information on the designated animal hospitals can be found on the Gwangju City website or by contacting the 120 Call Center.

Rabies is a zoonotic disease that can be fatal to humans, making it essential to prevent infection through regular annual vaccinations. The city conducts vaccination campaigns twice a year, in spring and fall, to ensure both public safety and animal welfare.

Bae Gwisuk, Director of the Agricultural and Animal Policy Division, stated, "We hope citizens will actively participate in rabies vaccination to protect the health of their cherished pets and ensure public safety."
