The Gyeonggi-do-supported startup "Eva" is taking the lead in solving the issue of "charging refugees" through innovations in electric vehicle infrastructure.
On October 7, Gyeonggi-do announced that Eva, a resident company of Pangyo Techno Valley, recently signed a contract worth 27 billion KRW (approximately 27 billion won) for the production and purchase of mobile electric vehicle charging facilities, accelerating its efforts to penetrate both domestic and international electric vehicle charging markets.
Eva is a leading startup that received commercialization support from Gyeonggi-do's "Global Startup Development Project" in 2022.
Eva, a specialized electric vehicle charging solution company, was spun off from Samsung Electronics' in-house venture program C-Lab and established in 2018. The company pioneered the market by developing the world's first autonomous driving automatic charging robot and portable chargers. The recently secured charging facility project involves directly delivering chargers to underserved areas such as mountainous regions, emergency sites, and temporary facilities nationwide, thereby providing services and meaningfully expanding the electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The project was commissioned by the Korea Automobile Environmental Association and involves supplying a total of 151 mobile charging facilities (worth 27 billion KRW) across the country. Eva formed a consortium with Chaevi and Ion Earth to participate in the project and ultimately secured the final contract. This achievement is a significant accomplishment for a single startup in the public sector and is expected to contribute to resolving the issue of "charging refugees."
Gyeonggi-do highlighted Eva's case as an example of how innovative startups in Pangyo Techno Valley have achieved tangible investment attraction and global expansion through policy support, and announced plans to continue supporting the growth of startups seeking to expand overseas.
Jung Hankyu, Director of the Advanced Mobility Industry Division of Gyeonggi-do, stated, "Eva is a representative model of a Gyeonggi-do startup that has succeeded in both technological innovation and market development. We will continue to discover innovative companies that can lead the electric vehicle ecosystem and support local businesses in reaching the global stage."
