The Gwangju City Public Libraries (Mudeung, Sajik, and Sansu) announced on October 6 that, in celebration of Culture Month in October, they will present a variety of lectures, exhibitions, and hands-on programs under the theme "Library Becomes an Art Playground." As autumn deepens, it is expected to be an opportunity for families to enjoy art and culture together at the library and create special memories.

Throughout October, Mudeung Library will host a "Minhwa Group Exhibition" themed around autumn and books, offering the beauty of traditional art. In addition, a themed book exhibition in the reference room will broaden the horizons of reading. For lectures, on October 24, art collector and art essayist Lee Soyoung will present "A Close-Up on Contemporary Art," and on October 31, art director Jung Jaeyoon (aka Julie Jung) will lead an in-depth artistic conversation with "Scenes of Music in Literature." On October 19 and 29, "Zero Waste Special Lectures" will be held, featuring eco-friendly soap making and calligraphy tumbler crafting experiences, providing time to reflect on the importance of environmental protection.

Throughout October, Sajik Library will offer an original painting exhibition titled "A Day in the Life of a Joseon Court Painter," allowing visitors to appreciate the atmosphere of traditional paintings, and will add to the joy of knowledge with a themed book exhibition in the reference room. On October 22, a lecture by author Lee Seungyeon, "K-Content at the Center: Talking About Korean Movies," will provide an engaging opportunity to understand contemporary cultural trends. On October 25, participants can experience traditional crafts firsthand by making their own bojagi (traditional wrapping cloth) bags, highlighting the beauty of tradition.

From October 13 to 24, Sansu Library will present an original picture book exhibition, "Mom Is the Best," offering a heartwarming experience, and will encourage reading through the "Overdue Borrower Liberation Day" event during the same period. There are also hands-on programs for those who enjoy crafting. On October 16, there will be a "Mother-of-Pearl Mirror Craft" experience that combines light and patterns, and on October 23, a "Pot Holder Making" experience that blends practicality and style, inviting citizens to participate.

All lectures and hands-on programs can be joined by registering in advance on the Gwangju City Public Library website. For more details, please refer to the public library website or contact the Literature and Information Division at Mudeung Library, Sajik Library, or Sansu Library.

Song Kyunghee, Director of the Public Library, said, "October is the perfect season for outings. The various cultural and artistic experiences prepared by the public libraries will offer something special," adding, "We hope that October will be a month rich in learning and culture for all citizens."
