The government has expressed its welcome regarding the progress made in U.S. President Donald Trump's peace initiative for the Palestinian Gaza Strip, following Hamas's partial acceptance of the plan.
On October 4, the government issued a statement through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, saying, "We welcome the progress achieved in President Trump's comprehensive plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip."
The government added, "We urge all parties to swiftly reach an agreement on follow-up measures so that this progress can lead to a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of all hostages, and improvements in the humanitarian situation."
The government further emphasized, "We will continue to actively participate in the international community's efforts to promote peace in the Middle East."
On September 29, President Trump, together with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced a peace initiative that called on Hamas to release all Israeli hostages and to disarm.
Hamas stated that it would release all remaining hostages and relinquish its power in the Gaza Strip, thereby accepting parts of President Trump's initiative.
As a result, Israel has indicated its willingness to begin the process of ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip under U.S. mediation, raising expectations that the war in the Gaza Strip, which has lasted for nearly two years, may be approaching its end.
