Gyeonggi-do will hold the "Rural Experience Travel Photo Contest" to widely promote the charm of rural areas and revitalize experiential tourism.
On October 4, Gyeonggi-do announced that the contest will be held in two categories-smartphone and digital camera-from October 10 to October 26.
This contest focuses on scenes captured at rural experience villages within the province, as well as festival sites such as the Ssamb Festival at Dandelion Theater Village in Hwaseong City and nine other villages currently hosting the "Gyeonggi Village Vitalization" festivals.
The purpose is to raise awareness of the precious value of rural areas and promote rural tourism through photos that convey the vivid atmosphere and warm emotions of rural life.
To participate, applicants must submit an online application via the Gyeonggi-do Rural Experience Travel website (www.ggfarmtour.com) and upload their photos according to the specified format. There are no restrictions on eligibility, and anyone interested in rural tourism in Gyeonggi-do may enter.
This contest goes beyond a simple photo competition, as participants are required to visit rural experience villages in person to take their photos, which is expected to encourage more people to visit rural areas. The province anticipates that these on-site visits will naturally boost demand for rural tourism, revitalize the operation of experience villages, increase consumption of local agricultural products, and generate various economic ripple effects by linking with nearby commercial districts.
Lee Munmu, Director of Agricultural Policy at Gyeonggi-do, stated, "I hope this photo contest will serve as an opportunity to share the charm of Gyeonggi-do’s rural areas as seen through the eyes of tourists," adding, "Gyeonggi-do will continue to implement various policies to expand rural tourism content and promote experiential tourism in the future."
